The Christmas Markets in Munich

The cold doesn't stop this city from buzzing, even at night time. It was windy today too. Sadly our photos don't capture how pretty this place is at night time. When we came out of the subway we could see the Christmas markets ahead and how they lit t up the surrounding buildings. We didn't have an agenda tonight. We just thought we'd try some of the local cuisine before finding a warm place to have a beer and soak up the atmosphere. We did just that.

The public transport system here is pretty efficient. The has only been a few times we've had to wait more than five minutes for a train or a tram.

They have an ice-skating rink in the city. This wooden building is connected to it and overlooks the rink. I don't know why we haven't thought to do this yet, watching tourists on ice over a beer sounds pretty fun. They have plastic polar bears (adult size and child size) with handles on them for less confident skaters. It's fairly adorable. We're yet to do this. I'm keen.... Joe is hesitating.

I love this city! It's not hard to see why, right? From these stalls we tried roasted chestnuts (they taste like a baked potato), honey and sugar coated macadamia nuts and potato cakes on a wafer with apple sauce. All of which was pretty darn good.

The bar we chose was crazy busy, with only one barmaid.. It was a nice atmosphere though. It was connected to a restaurant, but you could eat at the bar too. We had a Weiss Bier or a white beer. I don't like this one. It has a funny after taste. It was a shame too, because I had half a litre of the stuff to get through... Or should I say, Joe had a litre of the stuff to get through. I'm the worst. We also had a Helles Beir. Much better.

The pretzels here are delicious. I hope every human gets to have one in their lifetime.
